Doroty Douglas, First Lady of VermontCheck Into Literacy

Hello, this is First Lady Dorothy Douglas inviting you to Check Into Literacy.

Thanks to Verizon and the Vermont Humanities Council, Vermonters have a new, easy way to support literacy in Vermont.

All you need to do is check a box on the first page of your Verizon phone bill. Verizon will add $1 to your monthly bill.

Where Do Your Dollars Go?
check your Verizon bill to donate a dollar and become a Literacy ChampionThe proceeds fund literacy programs in Vermont through the Verizon Reads Foundation. Every dollar raised in Vermont stays in Vermont.

Imagine the impact if each of Verizon’s 200,000 residential customers in the state gave $12 a year. With Check Into Literacy, you can touch thousands of lives — children, teen parents, corrections residents, and adults who can’t read to their own children.

So, help bring literacy to all Vermont citizens. Check the box on your bill and help all Vermonters learn the joys of reading.
